Goonj

Students of Indirapuram Public School ,Crosings Republik visited Gooj Office on 5 November. They saw how they recycle contributed material into useful items.

They were touched by the work there were doing and providing support to required person. They cherished invaluable life lesson, understanding the significance of Sharing.

India is seen as a poor country by the world and the essence of human dignity often gets overshadowed. However, a remarkable initiative called Goonj is lighting up lives and restoring dignity, one donation at a time.

Goonj is a non-profit organization in India that works to provide relief and rehabilitation to people affected by natural disasters and poverty. The organization then works with communities to implement projects that will have a lasting impact on their lives.

It is much more than a charity or a simple donation drive. It doesn't just give away old clothes, books, or other essentials. It's about restoring pride. Goonj ensures that the recipients aren't passive receivers but active participants in their development. Their 'Dignity Kits' distributed during natural disasters provide not just essentials but also a sense of normalcy and respect. This is what sets Goonj truly apart its commitment to recycling and upcycling.

I like their commitment to recycling and upcycling. They see value in the seemingly valueless. Old clothes are transformed into school bags and more. This not only reduces waste but also promotes sustainability.
Goonj's work has been recognized both nationally and internationally. The organization has won numerous awards for its innovative and effective approach to development. In 2018, Goonj was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Social Leadership.

I, and the members of IPSCR are truly grateful to have these social workers at Goonj tell us about their work and encourage us to promote dignity through activities. They remind us of our shared humanity.
