As per NEP2020 there needs to be a paradigm shift away from high-stakes one-shot summative assessments to low stakes, assessment for and as learning.

Therefore, the assessment structure is now focused on Formative Assessments throughout the year mapped to competencies from NCF_SE-Aug23.

Formative assessments will include:

  • ODA in Science and Mathematics (Open door assessment)
  • Subject enrichment -ASL in Languages, Laboratory-hands on work in Science, Mathematics and Computational thinking, Project work in SSC will be part of the bouquet of formative assessments.
  • At least one art integrated project to be planned in classes 6-7-8 on the art form of the paired state – Arunachal Pradesh for schools in Uttar Pradesh
  • Portfolio-have to be maintained for every child. Techniques and format for this will be co-created for every curricular area Self-Assessments.
  • Formative Assessments will be evenly distributedand mapped with the competenciestransacted in that term.
  • Human Values and global perspectives ( HVGP) to be subsumed in “socio-emotional & ethical learning”.

  • Games, yoga, and health educationwill be subsumed in “physical education”.

  • Self-assessment enables students to take ownership of their learning by judging the extent of their knowledge and understanding. It provides a structure for them to reflect on their work, what they have learned and how to improve.
  • Peer-Assessment-where they act as critical friends and support each other, can help students to develop self-assessment skills .
  • Parent Observation
